Krisflyer Rewards Program
If you are interested in collecting points to get rewards from Singapore Airlines then you should become a member of the Krisflyer rewards program. Earning rewards points for this program has never been easier than it is right now.
In order to get Krisflyer rewards miles you will need to have either a Singapore Airline Westpac standard, gold or platinum credit card. You will also have to be a Krisflyer program member. Westpac needs to be provided with your membership number for the Krisflyer program in order to transfer your points over successfully.
Krisflyer Credit Cards
Krisflyer rewards
Whenever you use your Westpac card to make purchases that are eligible you can earn valuable Krisflyer miles. Simply by using the card to make purchases that you would be making anyway, you will be setting yourself up for a fantastic holiday using free rewards miles.
Westpac will automatically transfer your miles over to Singapore Airlines once a month. This crediting will take place after the statement date on your account. If you have not yet submitted your membership number to Westpac they will not be able to send your earned miles over to Singapore Airlines. The miles will also not be credited if your account is blocked or if there is anything else out of order, such as late or missed payments, by the date your statement is sent out.
You can read all about the policy for transferring miles in the terms and conditions that you received when you got your Singapore Airlines Westpac credit card. Once you have earned your rewards miles you do not want to lose them for any reason.
Earning Krisflyer miles
The amount of Krisflyer rewards miles you earn will depend on which Westpac credit card you use. You have various choices in this program.
You will be given 2 cards that are linked to one account so that you can get the most rewards miles possible. One card will be an American Express and one will be a Visa. You will earn more Krisflyer miles when you use your American Express card than you will with your Visa card, and that is why you are given 2 cards.
With the Singapore Airlines Westpac platinum card you will receive 1.5 Krisflyer miles for every dollar you spend on your American Express card and one Krisflyer mile for every dollar you spend on the Visa card.
If you have a Singapore Airlines Westpac gold account you will receive one Krisflyer mile for every dollar spent with your American Express card and 0.5 Krisflyer miles for every dollar spent with your Visa.
You can get the most points possible by using your American Express card wherever it is accepted. You are given the Visa card as a backup to earn points since American Express is not as widely accepted as Visa. The two cards together make a perfect combination when it comes to collecting miles so that you can get you on your holiday that much sooner.
Bonus miles
You can earn Krisflyer bonus miles by purchasing your airline ticket at singaporeair.com. The booking has to be processed using Australian dollars and travel must be made for destinations that are not in Australia.
How to become a member
You can go to Krisflyer.com to become a Krisflyer rewards member or you can ask Westpac to get you enrolled when you make your application. You will need to nominate Westpac to do this for you on the form.
Krisflyer miles will be sent over to your account only if Westpac has been provided with a member number that is valid. You cannot earn miles with the Krisflyer program if you are not a member, but there is nothing stopping you from using or applying for the Westpac credit card.
If you have lost your membership number you can call their customer service on 612 9350 0203 so that they can help you retrieve it. You may even have some miles in your membership that you have forgotten about.
How to redeem your Krisflyer miles
Redeeming your miles is as simple as going to Krisflyer.com or calling the membership service number listed above.
Expiration on Krisflyer Miles
Your Krisflyer miles will stay valid for up to three years before they expire, and you will always be notified before the expiry date on your statement for your account. For a small fee, you will be allowed to extend them for an extra six months for your convenience. If you are one of their elite members your miles may be extended for up to a year.
Unfortunately, if your miles have expired already there can be no extension made. That is why Westpac does everything it can to let you know in writing that the expiry date is forthcoming.
Disputing Krisflyer miles
If you see anything on your credit card statement that doesn’t look right you are given 90 days from the transaction date to make a dispute. This gives you plenty of time to sort through your records to make sure that a mistake has been made.
If you don’t see any Krisflyer miles appearing on your credit card statement it may be due to a number of things. You will not receive miles for cash advances, interest, fees or charges, government charges, purchases that are made for business reasons, payments with BPay or balance transfers.
If you have made a purchase, have already received miles and decided to get a refund on it, your miles will be taken off your account. For more information on these details you can refer to the terms and conditions that came with your credit card. If you have misplaced these terms, you can call up customer service and ask them to send you a replacement copy.
It is important to keep track of your Krisflyer rewards miles so that you can make holiday plans in advance. You will not be sent a separate statement for your Krisflyer miles apart from your statement for your Westpac credit card. Your Krisflyer rewards miles will be noted on your statement and you will be able to see how many you have earned and how many Westpac has transferred during your last statement cycle.
You will also be able to see the following information about your Chris Flyer rewards miles on your statement.
- How many miles have been transferred over to the Krisflyer membership program.
- Total amount of miles you have accumulated in your account.
- Any miles that have been adjusted due to refunds etc.
- Miles that have been earned on a promotion, such as extra miles given when you first use your card.
- Any bonus miles.
- Standard miles you have earned.
- Miles that were returned.
- Miles that have been brought forward from the last billing statement.
Krisflyer rewards will get you into the air faster and flying with Singapore Airlines. If you have been dreaming about getting away from it all, this rewards program is by far your best choice. With 2 credit cards at your disposal, you can earn more miles than you can with other programs that only offer one, and you will have easy card administration since they are both linked to one account.
