Virgin Blue rewards

The Virgin Blue rewards program is a simple to use rewards scheme that offers some great rewards such as gift vouchers, travel rewards and charitable donations.

Travel

When you have accumulated enough Velocity Rewards points you can use them towards a flight. You will be able to book a seat depending on how many points are available in your account. Seats for rewards are much like sale seeds. There are only a limited number of available and you do not need as many points to book them. It is always a good idea to book your flight as soon as you can to ensure getting the seat you want.

There is another type of seat available called an ‘any seat’. These seats are available to anybody but you do need more points to make a booking. As long as these types of seats are available, you can choose whichever airline partner you would like to travel with. Seats are even available during peak times of the year such as Christmas, school holidays and Easter.

Parking and car hire

You can also use your points to book a car hire or parking. If you want to book with Europcar you will have to call up Velocity to make the booking. Arrangements to use Fiat can be done at the Virgin Velocity Rewards store.

Hotel accommodations

The type of room that you can book using your Virgin Blue rewards points depends on how many points you want to spend. You will need 40,000 points to get a standard room at the Hilton Sydney for a night, for example.

To make the booking you would have to check the availability of the room with the Hilton reservations line and let them know that you want to pay for the room using your points. You would then order a certificate from the Virgin Velocity Rewards store. This process must be started at least 14 days before the reservation date. The certificate will be mailed out to you and will be deducted from your Virgin Rewards account. You would then use the certificate when you check in. This is the same process that is used to make a booking with your Velocity points at other hotels.
